Fabergé eggs:
Memories of a
Doomed Dynasty
Peter Carl Fabergé

Easter is the happiest festival of the Orthodox faith in Russia ... After the service, families gather reverently, in order to exchange gifts of decorated eggs, symbols of life and new hope. Easter of 1885 also marks the 20th Anniversary of Tsar Alexander III and Empress Maria Fyodorovna, and Tsar has an extraordinary gift for his wife.

Alexander III and Maira

So, order a young jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé, whose beautiful creations recently attracted the attention of Mary.On Easter morning, Fabergé Palace offers what seems like a simple egg, enameled. But to the delight of the Empress, is in a golden yolk inside the egg yolk is a golden goose, and hid a miniature crown of diamonds and rubies in the hen a small egg - both to celebrate his wife's story is all you need lost to reward theCzarPeter Carl Faberge ECONOMIC COMMISSION with a Faberge Easter egg each year. The requirements are simple: each egg must be unique, and each must contain a suitable surprise for the Empress. With consummate skill and ingenuity, Fabergé Thein again raises the challenge, borrowing inspiration from the life of the gold in October 1894 Health Czar. He died suddenly in the prime of life, and his son, Nicholas II, reluctantly came to the throne. "My God, the Lord called our beloved father to him. Turning in my head. What will happen to me?

To Russia? I'm not ready for a czar. I never wanted to be." (From the letters of Nicholas II 20 October, 1894.) "So, to make sure I made no mistakes," says Lynette PROLER Author, "decided that the best way to keep him for all that your father had done."

Unskilled in the management of one-eighth of the world's population and isolated consciously progressive thinking of his parents, hugged Nicholas the ideals of the limit order, service and tradition: "I am the principle of maintaining autocracy in the same strength and determination, as my father unforgettable evening . "

Nicolas rigid adherence to the convention is deliberately established custom in the family court and the affairs of the state. "And, of course, Easter is a tradition started by his father, Nicolas, decided to continue," he added PROLER. Tsar Nicholas manages the annual fee of Faberge Egg more for his mother and adds a second to be delivered to his new wife, the Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna.

Conceived and executed as imaginative with the opulence, the work of Faberge jewelry amounted to a decorative art unmatched since the Renaissance. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, the imperial eggs are shown to the public for the first time. He surprised the jury that the showers with honor and glory of Fabergé extends throughout Europe.

The novelty of combining artistic excellence with the functional value - and a touch of whimsy - that the imagination of the aristocracy as the Faberge workshops will be included with commissions, the transformation of a single jewelry store flooded in the famous "House of Faberge". But in spite of the aristocrats, barons, kings and queens as well as those who cross the threshold of his administration, the first duty is always Fabergé Czar.

Nicolas loves the pomp and ritual of the parade and imperial and requires only look good and speak little. But he showed little aptitude for power, reluctantly, on the main issues, the weak and contradictory, but it is strongly opposed to the necessary reforms and social policy. Be isolated over the years, the royal couple never in politics and intrigues of the court, my home life more comfortable seating and decisions less complicated. Sun Faberge made a point to learn something of the interests and achievements of the Romanov family to enjoy the configuration of the most memorable moments of their lives in the Easter gift and surprise.

Year after year, Faberge Imperial Easter eggs reach new heights of invention and extravagance, the expressions in miniature of the imperial life of privilege. In the opinion of the author and Fabergé expert Geza von Habsburg, "You are the absolute top of the machine. Are doing incredible. They were the best kind of Faberge, which was capable of, and gave everything he could with them." Ultimately, this Eggs painful memories of the tragic events of the story elements come. All Romanov so elegantly in the fifteenth anniversary of the Egg (1911), a family album to fulfill something more than two inches high. Paintings extremely detailed description of the highlights of the reign of Nicholas II, and each member of the family. "Not only is an amazing journey on the strength of the art of jewelry," Forbes, "but said probably more than any other egg that is most closely associated with the tragedy of Nicholas and Alexandra, and incredibly beautiful family. All kinds of prestigious events of her life -. to avoid these five children, and research for us there is not, fortunately, happen to them only a few years later "

In the first months of Russian participation in World War I, the latent discontent of the country's troubled by the patriotic unity in defense of the homeland is cooled. But dire economic conditions in Russia it is impossible for Nicolas to the war effort against the powerful, industrialized nations in Germany. In 1917, famine threatened the country. Riots and strikes for bread are common in Moscow and St. Petersburg. When the imperial troops to join the protesters, the government collapsed in the revolution. On 15 March and with the support of the people or the nobility Nicholas was forced to abdicate.

The next day a decree was passed ordering the arrest of Nicholas II and all other members of the Romanov family. The Tsar and his family finally to Siberia, where they live away in captivity for over a year. In the cold hours before dawn 17th July 1918 are Nicholas and Alexandra, their five children Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei, crammed into a basement and executed.

Immediate family, only the mother of Nicolas, the Dowager Empress Maria Fyodorovna escapes the bullet of the assassin. How to make a hasty departure from his homeland, and with him the Order of St. George egg, the last imperial Faberge eggs will never be the son of Nicholas, Czar of All the Russias times.

Determination of the eggs

In the harsh light of hindsight, the Fabergé Imperial Easter eggs are otherwise regarded as frivolous indulgences of a decadent monarchy. But the revolutionary ideology that robs also fragile memories of the doomed Russian dynasty, each not only a work of art, but a remarkable reflection on the joys and successes of the same family support at the crossroads of history.

You can not play undeniably impressive web app Moog Google in the U.S. version of google.com today, because Robert Moog's birthday is Wednesday. But regardless of where you are, you can stop by the Australian version - www.google.com.au - to play today. This is because Australia is always a day ahead of the United States due to the international line of change of date. (Maybe that his pirates are so futuristic music.)

Yes, this is a toy, but goes beyond mere gimmickry. You can adjust any of the Shooters wave form, change tone oscillator, mess with the filter or envelope and, with the numerical values for each that appear on the keyboard. Basically, you can play the notes on the computer keyboard after pressing a note with the mouse, extending the sonic possibilities and make it a real instrument.

The only two failures we've seen so far is that the folding wheel / pitch shifter is stuck in shaping modulator, for us anyway (yes, we're using Google Chrome), and the record function does not seem to work properly yet.

We hope this latest kick in once this nifty web application is available in our country. If the registration function to start working, this link should play our approach hastily recorded the riff of "Axel F".

Still, well done Google. This is a tribute to the birthday of a great man.

Pro tip: if you want to be able to reach the black keys, start with the QWERTY row starts. The black keys are the numbers.

tagged.com - How are money and love?

How are money and love?

One day driving in the company of a friend, we stopped at a red light and suddenly loomed us a young man handing out propaganda of a business house offering home appliances, the truth is that the propaganda leaflet was well printed with color photos , my friend after watching a few moments the bow and shot the back seat, I asked because I did, I replied that I had seen what was on offer and had no greater importance to him, then began a discussion and I asked him if given a ticket so throw five hundred Cordobas, of course I said no, not thinking, I said exactly. We have all agreed to a convention, we have created a symbolism that gives value to a paper and denies the other. This code helps us in everyday life, with him, we can buy food, pay for college for our children, pay for electricity, water, and gas, we pay the medical bills and in many cases the damage we cause.

Money is more than money, is communication, it assessment, is power and when unevenly distributed in society means more power for some and less for others. It is impossible to obviate, is unavoidable presence in our projects, our survival. It is perhaps the most widespread of human conventions, exists in all languages in all cultures, under all political systems. It is, shall we say, as ubiquitous as love. And since so, what is the relationship between them? How are money and love?
Speaking of money in the couple is not an easy issue for even the most advanced minds. Since the twelfth century burst in what is known as a passionate love that feeling that couples choose each other and escape the link model was a simple economic transaction between families found any reference to money dirtied love.
Nine centuries later, the issue remains difficult to address, couples to the extent that they get to know the relationship is strengthened and begin to address various topics, where they will live, how many children think they have, as the educated, who think that other projects to pursue , the accounts their lives, fears emerge and comfort each other, but honestly you talking about economic issues? How to manage money? How will the responsibilities be distributed?, Not true, these things have not addressed the economic fear of damaging the relationship, problems will appear later.

Is that, no doubt, when we speak of money in the couple do not talk about numbers. The real issue is communication, trust, shared visions, the arrival point that is oriented toward the common trip. He speaks, finally, love. And speaking of power.

The money in the couple creates a lot of ghosts. The male ghosts relate to fears of not contributing enough financially and thus see their masculinity questioned or even worse being at the mercy of the money that his wife brings meaning a loss of authority and also result in a loss of self esteem. With the current economic crisis have passed through my office many men very depressed because they can not contribute or contribute little to support the family, imagine or actually live a humiliation by the wife for this.

Ghosts female roam around feeling of helplessness you feel if your husband earns enough money. If the husband earns enough money there are some women who feel stifled, controlled, low self-esteem. As traditional models do not disappear just wanting some women still have a good job and earning enough money fragility and vulnerability felt that if the man does not have the same income as her. I have also seen women in which the husband has been very good provider of home, but for some reason can no longer facing him, she takes a toxic effect being felt little man her husband and even try to make him jealous.
A number of men willing to partner model less rigid about traditional roles are overwhelmed by the weight of financial responsibility, even when they can afford it. Often complain that while their income support food, shelter, health, education and core costs of the couple and the family, the income of their wives are considered by them as strictly personal and dedicated, so Therefore, expenditure, savings or investments that have to do with them or just to give you all kinds of luxury to their daughters.
There are women who privately tell their friends, sisters or relatives, as their husbands have neglected economic issues, do not know how much you earn your man, know if there are bank accounts and the total of the savings. Of course this is not born spontaneously has been an implicit agreement in which "he is committed to not missing anything at home but she should not ask anything about economic issues."
View as usual, money is no longer a purely economic thing to become a matter of feelings. Just as a partner manages the money handled his emotional life, communication, sexuality. If concealment misgivings, economically sleight, will have on other aspects of the relationship.
Money is a function of power and control, the supplier feels he has special rights, the other builds up resentment and revenge plot or subtle to be run independently, it makes family life is a battlefield before a field of collaboration . If every time an issue arises in which money has a role as buying a car, going on holiday, to attend courses to one of the members want to do and ends in conflict, the problem is not the money is in communication, empathy, the fragility of the relationship.
The money is only a symbol, money management in marriage is how they make sense of the relationship as complementary. Even the couple's sexual problems have little to do with economic things, discussions that sometimes initiate sexual problems end economic problems such surfacing, who brings the money thinks it guarantees the permanent availability of the other sex and who is resented economic power that is exerted on it often finds a way to close the legs citing the famous headache, allergies, stomach pains, fatigue and thousands of other excuses, vengeance has been consummated.
When talking about money in love you think that this is impure and that love is the essence of purity, the money is only a symbol and is neither pure nor impure, it may be questionable how many people get, its own management in a relationship, how to communicate the economic issues that the relationship will be stable or becomes chaos.

Howard Carter's Tagged.com doodle: Who was King Tutankhamun?

New Delhi:
In a bid to celebrate the 138th birth anniversary of Howard Carter, the discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun, Google today replaced its usual logo with a doodle that includes a wide array of Egyptian treasures that cover the term "Google" and make it barely visible.
The doodle also has the tomb of Tutankhamen, which stands at the centre. The doodle features several other elements related to Tutankhamun and the tomb.
The doodle pays homage to an English archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter, who is noted as a discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922.
But who was Tutankhamun? King Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty. His original name, Tutankhaten, means "Living Image of Aten". As a prince he was known as Tutankhaten. He ascended to the throne in 1333 BC, at the age of 9 or 10.
When he became king, he tied knot with his half-sister, Ankhesenepatan. Considering his age, the king had very powerful advisers including General Horemheb, the Vizier Ay and Maya.
Tutankhamun later reversed many changes that were made during his father's reign. It is believed that he ended the worship of the god Aten and restored the god Amun to supremacy.
King Tutankhamun died at about the age of 19, but there are no surviving records of Tutankhamun's final days. And, what led to his death has been the subject of considerable debate.
According to speculations, Tutankhamun was assassinated, while the consensus is that his death was accidental.

Coming back to the doodle, Howard's important contribution to his field of archaeology was the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
On 4 November 1922, Carter's excavation group found the steps leading to Tutankhamun's tomb, by far the best preserved and most intact pharaonic tomb ever found in the Valley of the Kings. Following his discovery, Howard Carter retired from archaeology and became a part-time agent for museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Carter died of lymphoma in Kensington, London, on March 2, 1939 at the age of 64.

EARLY LIFE
Howard Carter was born May 9, 1874, in Kensington, London. His father Samuel Carter was a successful artist. Howard was a sickly child, and was sent to live with his aunts in Norfolk. He had private home schooling, and had an artistic streak from an early age. When his father painted a portrait of a well-known Egyptologist, the young Howard's interest was sparked.
The British had occupied Egypt in the late 19th centry. This period saw an increased European interest in Egyptology, the study of ancient Egypt. Many prominent British scientists and archeologists were active in excavating ancient sites.

ARCHEOLOGY
Through his father's connections, Howard Carter found a job working for an archeologist who needed an artist to draw his findings. Howard headed to Egypt in 1891, at the age of 17, where he was to work on the Egypt Exploration Fund's excavation of the Middle Kingdom tombs at Beni Hassan. For the next several years, Carter worked under different archeologists at sits including Amarna, Deir el Babri, Thebes, Edfu, and Abu Simbel. Carter earned praise for using innovative and modern new methods to draw wall reliefs and other findings.
In 1907, Carter was hired by wealthy English aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who was fascinated by Egyptology. With Carnarvon's backing, Carter led the excavation of Egyptian nobles' tombs. In 1914, Carnarvon received a license to dig at KV62, the site where it was believed the tomb of King Tutankhamun rest. Carnarvon gave the job to Howard Carter. Carter hired a crew of workers to help find the tomb, which was believed to be at a site in the Valley of the Kings designated KV62.

DISCOVERY OF KING TUT'S TOMB
After a few weeks of digging, a boy who worked as a water fetcher on the excavation started to dig in the sand with a stick. He found a stone step, and called Carter over. Carter's crew found a flight of steps that led down to a sealed door, and a secret chamber. On November 6, 1922, Carter and Lord Carnrvon entered the tomb, where they found an immense collection of gold and treasures. On February 16, 1923, Carter opened the innermost chamber and found the sarcophagus of King Tut.
The discovery made a huge impact. King Tut's tomb was by far the most intact of all the tombs that were excavated, and artifacts were well-preserved, including the sarcophagus and Tut's mummy. An interest in ancient Egypt and Egyptology was sparked around the world, largely in thanks to the uncovered tomb of Tutankhamun.

tagged by Happy Birthday Keith Haring

Artist: Keith Haring
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Haring grew up in Kutztown and was interested in art from an early age. From 1976 to 1978 he studied graphic design at The Ivy School of Professional Art, a commercial and fine art school in Pittsburgh. At age 19 Haring, who was openly gay, moved to New York City, where he was inspired by graffiti art, and studied at the School of Visual Arts.(May 4, 1958-February 16, 1990 (aged 31)

“Keith Haring ranks among the most iconic, influential and popular artists in the world. Twenty years after his death, this is a rare and in-depth look at the prolific early years that established Haring’s language as an artist, his politics and social conscience, and his open homosexuality.”

Budapest, Hungary - Keith Haring, having died of AIDS at the age of 31, would be 50 years old in 2008. His anniversary is going to be celebrated with several exhibitions and events all over the world. The Ludwig Museum – Museum of Contemporary Art in Budapest contributes to the celebration with a unique exhibition organized in co-operation with the Keith Haring Foundation in New York. It will be the first time that such a comprehensive overview on his oeuvre is exhibited in Hungary, which is fascinatingly rich and multifaceted, although it embraces merely a decade.

Haring’s characteristic figures, the ‘radiant baby’ and the ‘barking dog’ are well-known to millions of people. He developed this easily recognizable style (based on line) as a means of expression first in the New York Metro system by drawing on empty advertisement spaces. He was inspired by the work of graffiti artists and hip hop culture. Several other trends and artistic strategies also influenced his work, from Abstract Expressionism to Andy Warhol and Pop Art. Although he used various materials and surfaces – paper, waterproof canvas, huge mural surfaces, cars or even human bodies – he always created his paintings and drawings with a single light gesture, without making sketches or corrections.
For Haring, art’s most important task was communication. He wanted to reach as wide an audience as possible, which is why he promoted his works not only in museums and exhibitions, but on a variety of surfaces in various forms. Keith Haring’s art could be found on public spaces or on products he sold in his own shop - the Pop Shop. Although it was his intention to make his art accessible for the general public, today the price of his works sets records on the art market that are unaffordable to most.

In his works the criticism of American consumer society merges with elements of Christian iconography or symbols of civilizations outside Europe (or the Earth.) The inhabitants of this characteristic universe are cartoon figures, televisions, computers, dollar signs, pyramids and flying saucers; also included are his iconic people and dogs, angels and monsters. By means of his unique, complex system of symbols, he evokes the universal visions of violence and power, love and desire, and illness and death. One of Keith Haring’s last works, the Altarpiece belongs to the Ludwig Museum’s collection. It is to be exhibited in a new context within the framework of this exhibition. The Keith Haring Foundation’s mission is to protect the legacy of Keith Haring, his art, and his ideals. The Foundation also supports children’s charities and organizations involved in the fight against AIDS.
